SOMEWHERE ON A RIVER

DESTINATION-ALASKA   Kachemak Bay in Winter
WEATHER

Winter in Alaska brings challenges not encountered during the other seasons. Low temperatures are certainly the most difficult. However, the same low temperatures create different levels of beauty. Featured in this group are ice patterns that form at the outfall of a high tide backwater draining back to the bay during low tide. The reflected color, created by the low angle sunlight penetrating a hazy sky, turn the ice into an other-worldly scene.
