SOMEWHERE ON A RIVER

DESTINATION-COLORADO   Trappers Lake
LOCAL WEATHER

The 2002 Big Fish fire is still very evident at Trappers Lake. Started by a lightning strike, the fire burned hot and the pristine valley that holds Trappers virtually went up in smoke. The trees surrounding the Lake are now bare gray logs but re-growth of the wilderness is strong.

As you travel in the area, you will be amazed at the abundant ponds and small lakes scattered about the landscape. Creeks abound and all lead to the North Fork White River. Water is natures life blood and it definitely amasses here.

Trappers Lake is tucked just inside the north boundary of the Flat Tops Wilderness. For those adventure minded souls, many trails head into the wild lands of the Flat Tops from here. Take an hour or a week to enjoy Trappers Lake and the incredible lands that surround.
