Having seen an image of Mesa Arch on a computer screen saver, I was intrigued and scheduled a trip. AM is the prime time to view the arch but I was there the evening before and it is a short hike. With the sun going down and the light turning magical, I set up with the La Sal Mountains in the far background. The snow on the mountains added the finishing touch.

Visiting Canyonlands Island in the Sky is an easy paved road trip just north of Moab, Utah. Island in the Sky is a high plateau situated between some of the most incredible scenery in eastern Utah. Once there, take your pick of which vista most intrigues you. And do visit Mesa Arch in the early morning hours. AM light is a phenomena you will never forget.
