SOMEWHERE ON A RIVER

DESTINATION-ALASKA   Great Gray Owl
WEATHER

The Great Gray Owl is an elusive bird found in the forests of Alaska. Quietly floating on broad wings, it is sometimes referred to as the Phantom of the North. Its overall size gives it the distinction as the largest owl in North America however the Great Horned Owl does weigh more. The owl here, was seen near Mud Bay and gave us a glimpse into its world as it pounced from this perch down to the snow covered ground below. They possess keen hearing and can sense their pray under the snow. To see one is a thrill to be remembered.
