Hiking to Delicate Arch in Arches National Park the first time, I wasn't sure exactly what to expect. As with other iconic landscape destinations, so many images grace our magazines, calenders, cards, and such. In the case of Delicate Arch, it is also seen on Utahs vehicle license plates.

The hike is moderate and if attempted during certain times of the year and of the day, you might find yourself as a private audience at one of the most incredible stages in the natural world. Walking the ledge on the approach to the amphitheater that showcases Delicate Arch, I wasn't prepared for what stood just around the corner. Delicate Arch alone is an incredible creation of nature but when combined with the adjacent area, WOW.
