One of the enjoyable things about living in Alaska is the variety of wildlife that spends some or all of their life sharing this land with us. In the case of many of the bird species found here, they travel long distances to reap the bounties and, during the opposite seasons, to leave the area for land that is a bit more forgiving.

Those of us that thrill with what nature gives become anxious as Spring arrives. The spectacle returning each year is cause for celebration. Take time to enjoy it and to understand it.
